One of the best way to get close to the mountains/ himalayas in Nepal is to take a mountain flight. This flight lasts for an hour. It offers a close view of the himalayan mountain range.There are daily Mountain flight through various domestic airlines which take-off from Kathmandu airport in the early morning for an hour’s worth of spectacular mountains scenery.
As the aircraft takes off and heads towards the east,you don’t have to wait for long time. First you wil see Gosaithan, also called Shisha Pangma, at the height of 8,013 m. follows by the following:
Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), a mountain that looks like the number 8 lying down and covered with snow.
Langtang (7,234 m). The first mountain which can be seen, is Langtang, the valley of Langtang which is not visible from the mountain flight, is considered to be most beautiful in the whole Himalayan region.
Dorje Lakpa (6,975 m). This mountain has a Tibetan name, which means "the mountain of many sacred Thunderbolts". This mountain is considered to be holy mountain for Buddhist.
Gauri - Sanker (7,134 m). This single mountain has two peaks and also has two names together because the Hindus believe that the mountain was restricted till 1977for the climbers.
Chubago (6,297 m). Desipate being comparatively low summit, it has never been climbed. This mountain lies at the tashi Lapcha pass at a highest of (5,750 m) is the most difficult pass over to Tibet. The local people of Khumbu Valley are crossing into Tibet even now days through this pass.
Lhotse (8,516 m). As this mountain lies to the south of Everest, name given by the Sherpas is Lhotse, which means "South Peak". The first ascent of this mountain took place in 1956 by the swiss.
Mount Everest (8,848 m). This mountain was discovered in 1852 and is the highest mountain of the world, is named after Sir Gorger Everest, an English surveyor. Sagarmatha, top of the universe, is the name given by Nepal which means "mother of the Sherpa were Qomolongma in Tibetan. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa were first to climb Everest.
