Rough Guides recommend Nepal as the No. 1 destination for 2016
Nepal has claimed the number one spot in the list ‘Top 10 countries to visit in 2016’ published by Rough Guides.
“Nepal’s cultural landscape is every bit as diverse as its physical one,” says Shafik Meghji, co-author of The Rough Guide to Nepal. The varied landscapes of the country from its majestic Himalayas to lush jungle-filled plains that are home to rich and diverse wildlife is the main reason behind the recommendation.
“Thoughtfully spent tourist dollars will go a long way here; choosing independent homestays and grass root tour companies ensures money ends up in local pockets,” Rough Guides said. Reopening of trekking trails, restoration of historic landmarks, and the tourism industry rallying to rise up again makes the Himalayan nation an ideal choice for 2016 reports the UK based travel publisher.
Other countries on the list are Colombia, Cuba, Jordan, Albania, Romania, El Salvador, Wales, Kenya and Sri Lanka, in that order.
