Embark on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek which is one of Nepal’s most popular and exciting trekking routes. Annapurna base camp is perfect trek​ for both beginners and seasoned hikers, this 11 days journey takes you deep into the heart of the Himalayas that is surrounded by majestic peaks like Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli.

We will walk through forests, villages, and beautiful landscapes as we ascend to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). Along the way, we will also enjoy cozy teahouses, local culture, and stunning sunrises over the Annapurna range.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Highlight

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. It is fairly easy to do and has a shorter walk than other high-altitude walks in Nepal. And provides many things to explore on, from different terrains, to different culture, to different wildlife to take pictures of. Also there is the spectacular view of the range of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli and Dhaulagiri to closely admire and look. The stunning contrast of the white mountains against the deep blue sky here creates a picture-perfect scene that feels almost surreal to look at.

The air is also very fresh to breathe on and hikers will love exploring this impressive mountain range. There are also overall scenic views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Annapurna South, Tent Peak, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Annapurna South to admire. The beauty of this place is truly indescribable, it captures all of your attention, and you'll find yourself reaching for your camera again and again to capture every moment.

During the walk, you will be accompanied by the pleasant smell of orchids, the Machhapuchhre massif, and the view of Kali Gandaki's deepest gorge. You will get to see high waterfalls along the way and also stop at the Ghandruk Museum to learn more about people of different ethnicities, particularly the Gurung community. 

The Annapurna base camp is located at 4130 meters above sea level and is unique and very beautiful, it is surrounded by the majestic peaks of Annapurna South (7219 meters), Annapurna I (8091 meters), Hiunchuli (6441 meters), and Machapuchhre (6993 m). The Annapurna Base Camp Trek can take anywhere from 7 to 12 days to complete, depending on your itinerary and the length of your walking days. The itinerary we have here is for travelers who want to reach Annapurna Base Camp in 11 days.

Detailed Itinaries

DAY 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, a representative from the Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd will come to pick you up at the airport and drop you to the hotel. In the afternoon you can rest, refresh yourself and have a good tea or coffee. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be held by us Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd. For the welcome dinner, you get to enjoy delicious Nepali cuisine. For day 1 you will stay overnight in Kathmandu preparing for tomorrow's trip. 

 

Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
DAY 2

Fly to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) & trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6360 ft): 30 minutes flight (5 - 6 hours trek)

In day 2 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we take an early morning scheduled flight to Pokhara, which is the beautiful city of the lake. In the flight we get to enjoy the amazing views of the Himalayas from the right side of our plane. After some time at flight and then landing at the Pokhara airport, we will then drive to Naya Pul (which is a 1 hour and 20 minutes drive) and then begin the trek. From Birethanti, we go to Ghandruk, which is a beautiful village that is filled mainly by the Gurung community. At Ghandruk, we will also visit the Gurung Museum the same day. And then we will spend the night in Ghandruk.

Day 2 - Fly to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) & trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6360 ft): 30 minutes flight (5 - 6 hours trek)
DAY 3

Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 5 - 6 hours

In day 3 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, after waking up we will do a walk for about an hour to reach Kimrungdanda. On the walk we get to enjoy excellent views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre) and Ganggapurna. After reaching Kimrungdanda we take a short break then do a descent that takes us to Kimrong Khola. After another short break at Kimrong Khola to admire the view we will then take another walk from there to Chere Danda, after we reach Chere Danda we then descend for a while till we reach Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village that has many beautiful places to admire and this is where we will spend the night for today. 

 

Day 3 - Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 5 - 6 hours
DAY 4

Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310m/7578ft): 4 - 5 hours

In day 4 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we descend 2500 stone steps down and then cross the bridge over Chhomrong Khola. After reaching there, there will be a difficult climb to do to reach Sinuwa. Then we cross a beautiful forest to reach Kuldihar, then we descend till we reach bamboo. The night on this day will be spent at Bamboo

Day 4 - Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310m/7578ft): 4 - 5 hours
DAY 5

Bamboo to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 3 - 4 hours

In day 5 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we will cross a humid and cold bamboo forest, then climb some high slopes to reach the Himalaya Region. After arriving at the Himalaya region, the forest opens up and we get to see the impressive view of the glacier river under the bright sun. It will be a difficult climb through a dry forest before reaching the Hinku cave. From there, we can see the trail descending closer to the river before returning to Deurali which is the most picture worthy place of the day. The greenery there is thin, allowing us to get magical views of the valley, the river below and high cliffs at the top of the rocks covered with waterfalls. The night on this day will be spent on Deurali. 

 

Day 5 - Bamboo to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 3 - 4 hours
DAY 6

Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/12135ft): 5- 6 hours

In day 6 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we climb up the riverbed and then up a difficult path to the side of the mountain. The walk from Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is hard. After a difficult journey we reach the base camp of Machhapuchhre, there we get to see excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre and Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna which is an experience that will be engraved in your memory forever. The vegetation will slowly start to disappear on our way to Annapurna Base Camp Trek and the road opens up when we enter the Annapurna Sanctuary. From there, we have an amazing view of the vertical south face of the Annapurna that rises above us towards the clouds. The sanctuary has a dynamic view without hindering the 360 degree overall view. From the base camp, we once again enjoy a fascinating view of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. The night on this day will be spent at Annapurna base camp. 

Day 6 - Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/12135ft): 5- 6 hours
DAY 7

Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo: 7 – 8 hours

In day 7 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, from the Annapurna Base Camp, we retrace our steps towards the bamboo. As today's descent is downhill, so it would not be that much difficult compared to ascending that we did before. And we will also have the company of the landscape to cheer up our spirit. The night on this day will be at Bamboo.

Day 7 - Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo: 7 – 8 hours
DAY 8

Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m/5770 ft): 5 - 6 hours

In day 8 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, from Bamboo the journey continues , the journey is going uphill to Kuldighar, followed by a descent to Chhomrong Khola. Then we climb the stone steps that lead to Chhomrong. The path then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will rest at night. Today we will have the opportunity to enjoy the hot springs, that is just a 15-20 minutes walk away from Jhinu Danda to soothe our aching body and get refreshed. The night on this day will be spent in Jhinu Danda.

Day 8 - Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m/5770 ft): 5 - 6 hours
DAY 9

Trek to Naya Pul then drive to Pokhara: 6 hours trek, 1 hour drive

In day 9 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we go from Jhinu Danda to Naya Pul, where we can enjoy the beautiful mountainous landscape of western Nepal. We will also have a delicious lunch on the way to Naya Pul to keep our energy up. Our walk will end at Naya Pul, where we will then board to Pokhara in our vehicle. After reaching Pokhara the night on this day will be spent there.

Day 9 - Trek to Naya Pul then drive to Pokhara: 6 hours trek, 1 hour drive
DAY 10

Fly to Kathmandu

In day 10 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, we then fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon. Once we land in Kathmandu, you will then be transferred to the hotel. Where you can either just spend your day quietly or make last-minute purchases or explore the Kathmandu area at the time permits. And to celebrate the success of our long trip, we will have a farewell dinner at night and enjoy the night cheerfully. The night on this day will be spent in Kathmandu.

Day 10 - Fly to Kathmandu
DAY 11

Final Departure

Day 11 of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek is our final day as our trip to Nepal ends today. A representative of the Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd will drop you at the airport about 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On the way back, you will have enough time to reflect back on your journey to Annapurna Basecamp and plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal with us Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd.

Day 11 - Final Departure

Cost Inclusion:

Useful Information

  1.   From Pokhara, the Annapurna range will increase your desire for seeing mountain views. 
  2.  The Annapurna Base Camp is a small collection of lodges located directly across from the Annapurna glacier. 
  3.  Annapurna I (8,091 m) attracts many hikers. But among the many only some come back as it has the highest fatality rate. 
  4. The best seasons to trek to Annapurna Base Camp are from mid-September to November (autumn) and March to May (spring).
