The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is one of Nepal's most popular treks. Thousands of hikers visit the Kanchenjunga circuit each year. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) is the world's third highest peak, and it is one of the few unexplored and untouched hiking trails in Nepal's eastern region. Kanchenjunga trekking is a very serene and eventful path that provides us with the view of beautiful snow-capped mountains, landscape, and spectacular views of the Himalayas. You can get to see various mountain peaks and snowy peaks which are higher than 8,000 meters, such as Mount Everest (8,848 meters), Mt. Makalu (8,201 meters), and Mt. Lhotse (8,516 meters), among others.
Derived from the Tibetan phrase “Chen Gangszod Lnga” which means “The Five Treasures of Snow”, Kanchenjunga refers to the five majestic peaks that make up this incredible Himalayan massif. Standing tall at 8,586 meters, Mt. Kanchenjunga is the third-highest mountain in the world and is a true gem of Eastern Nepal. Unlike the more crowded Everest and Annapurna regions, the Kanchenjunga Trek is remote, peaceful, and far less explored, thus providing trekkers a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in peaceful nature and Himalayan culture.
This trek is renowned for its dramatic changing landscapes—from lowland jungles to icy glaciers. As you journey through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area that is spread over 2,035 sq. km, you'll witness one of the richest biodiversity places in the Himalayas. The path is home to endangered species like the snow leopard, musk deer, and red panda, as well as a wide range of birdlife including the Impeyan pheasant, red-billed blue magpie, and the elusive shy drongo.
What sets this trek apart is not just the mountains, but also the peaceful villages, the lively forests, and the feeling of true adventure. With every step, you'll find yourself deeper in the wild heart of Nepal—surrounded by glaciers, unique flora and fauna, and mind-blowing scenery.
