The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a breathtaking 14-day journey to the southern face of Annapurna I, providing a perfect blend of stunning natural beauty, cultural richness, and mountain adventure. This trek takes you to the heart of the Himalayas—Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) which is a high glacial basin surrounded by a ring of towering mountain peaks. Along the path, you’ll walk past waterfalls, charming villages, terraced fields, beautiful dense rhododendron forests, and constantly changing views of the majestic Annapurna range. It’s a perfect opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of the Annapurna giants up close while experiencing Nepal’s many different types of flora, fauna, and lively local cultures.
What makes this trek truly special is the immersive journey through the lives of multiple ethnic communities and clean nature there. Highlights of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek:
Our trip to Nepal starts today. A representative of the Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt Ltd will greet you at the who will drop you at your hotel, after checking in at the hotel you can rest, relax and refresh yourself. In the evening you can enjoy a welcome dinner organized by us Go Nepal Travel Tours and Treks Pvt. Ltd. During dinner you will enjoy delicious Nepali cuisine. The night today will be spent in Kathmandu.
On day 2 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we visit various world Heritage sites listed by UNESCO in Kathmandu. These sites highlight Nepal's cultural and religious heritages. Our first stop will be Kathmandu's Durbar Square, which shows the rich architectural skill of Kathmandu during the Malla Dynasty (C1201-1769), and then we will go to Swayambhunath Stupa, which tourists commonly call the Monkey Temple' due to the large population of monkeys in this place. Next up we go to Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus around the world, and finally to the Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Finally after exploring and visiting these places, late in the evening, we gathered together at the hotel for a brief orientation on our hike for the next day. The night today will also be spent in Kathmandu.
On day 3 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we fly to Pokhara early in the morning. As soon as we land in Pokhara, we will notice the amazing view of the Himalayas with which the city is adorned with. We can see mountain peaks like Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, the five summits of Annapurna and others. From Pokhara, we head to Naya Pul and start the trek journey. We cross a forest of valleys, then cross Khola Bhurundi before reaching the village of Tikhedhunga. Reaching Ulleri Hill, that is more than thousands of steps away with the continually rising path, will be a difficult trek that will challenge our patience and limit. After a long and difficult trek we arrived in Ulleri in the evening. We will spend the night in Ulleri.
On day 4 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, after having breakfast, we climb the village of Ghorepani by a stone staircase. As we ascend, we have the chance to admire the spectacular scenery around us. We pass through beautiful waterfalls, small towns and several tea houses before arriving at Ghorepani. We will stop at the highest part of the village of Ghorepani that provides us with 360 overall views of the surrounding mountains, including the Annapurna South and Nilgiri Mountains. The Ghorepani village has small shops that sell local products such as handbags and handicrafts which you can buy as souvenirs. The village also has a good Wi-Fi connection so if you need to connect with the world you can do so easily. We will spend the night in Ghorepani.
On day 5 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we wake up early in the morning to reach Poon Hill just in time to see the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. Poon Hill is the most popular destination to enjoy close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and watching the sunrise from these majestic mountains is just indescribably beautiful. From Poon Hill, we also get to see incredible views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains. After having a cup of coffee or local chai(tea) there, we return to Ghorepani. After our lunch at Ghorepani, we walk east and climb a ridge. Our path descends through rhododendron forests and waterfalls before reaching Tadapani. We will spend the night in Tadapani.
On day 6 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, after having breakfast we start our trek for today by descending a path into a large forest of rhododendrons. The forest path ends and our path opens onto magnificent terraced fields. We walk about 5 km upstream, pass through the waterfalls and arrive at a suspension bridge. A few additional kilometers of uphill and downhill hiking, we will arrive at our destination, Chhomrong. It is a beautiful village just below the giant Annapurna massif. We will spend the night in Chhomrong.
On day 7 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we leave Chhomrong and walk on a series of stone steps before arriving at Chhomrong Khola. We walk past a suspension bridge over the river and begin to climb towards Sinuwa. Our path crosses a beautiful forest to Kuldihar. From there, we embark on an easy descent to bamboo. The night today will be spent on Bamboo.
On day 8 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, first we have to go through a bamboo forest which is wet and cold. Then we climbed a steep road till we reached small villages. After arriving at the small villages that have hotels and lodges, the forest opens up and we are again exposed to the sun with an impressive view of the glacier river. After that there is another steep climb through a much drier forest before reaching the Hinku cave. From there, our path descends to a river before climbing to reach Deurali. From here we can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding hills and Mt. Dhaulagiri. The vegetation here will become low, allowing us to have a chance to see the beautiful views of the valley, the river below and the cliffs with waterfalls. We will spend the night in Deurali.
On day 9 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we follow the path of the valley in a regular climb. The path is a rocky cliff which is sometimes steep. We walk along a flat path before going to Machhapurchre base camp. From here we have an excellent view of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, the Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna mountains. We turn left and begin to climb slowly towards the Annapurna base camp. During our ascent, we can admire the spectacular views of the Himalayan panorama. Walking further, we reached the base camp of Mt. Annapurna and it's amazing. We are surrounded by beautiful peaks and the only way to get there is to cross the gorge in which we have just walked. Overnight at Annapurna base camp
On day 10 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, after having breakfast at Annapurna Base Camp, we begin our trek by trail descending rapidly through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali and Doban and finally reaching Bamboo. Today's descent will be downhill so it should not be that difficult. We will spend the night today in Bamboo.
On day 11 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, We take our step back in order to return to Chhomrong where we stop for lunch. From Chomrong, the descent is steep towards the Modi Khola valley. The stone steps leading to Chhomrong are as delicate as before. The path then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will rest at night. On the way, we can enjoy our walk through tropical forests and farms. After arriving at Jhinu Danda, we can spend the rest of the afternoon resting and relaxing. We will spend the night in Jhinu Danda.
On day 12 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we leave Jhinu Danda early in the morning and enjoy the beautiful mountainous landscape of western Nepal towards Naya Pul. We will also have lunch on the way. The walk to the Annapurna Sanctuary and back ends today. We now drive back to Pokhara. Overnight will be in Pokhara.
On day 13 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, we fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning. After landing at the airport, you will be dropped to the hotel where you can spend the day either by taking the rest you need or making some last minute purchases. We will also celebrate the end of our trip with a farewell dinner organized by us, where we can share our hiking experiences. Night will be in Kathmandu.
Day 14 of our Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is unfortunately our final day as our exciting, serene and eventful adventure on Annapurna in Nepal ends today. A representative of our Go Nepal Travel Treks and Tours Pvt. Ltd. will drop you off at the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight.
