Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about trekking and traveling in Nepal

The best times for trekking in Nepal are during the pre-monsoon (March-May) and post-monsoon (September-November) seasons. Spring offers blooming rhododendrons and clear mountain views, while autumn provides the clearest skies and most stable weather conditions.

Yes, most trekking areas in Nepal require permits. Popular regions like Everest and Annapurna require TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) cards and National Park permits. Restricted areas like Upper Mustang and Manaslu require special permits. We handle all permit arrangements for our clients.

Fitness requirements vary by trek difficulty. Most treks require good cardiovascular fitness and ability to walk 5-7 hours daily. We recommend regular cardio exercises, hiking practice, and consulting with your doctor before undertaking high-altitude treks above 3000m.

Essential items include: layered clothing, waterproof jacket, warm sleeping bag, trekking boots, headlamp, first aid kit, water purification tablets, and personal medications. We provide a detailed packing list upon booking. Trekking gear can also be rented in Kathmandu.

Tea houses provide basic accommodation with shared facilities. Meals typically include dal bhat (rice and lentils), noodles, and international dishes. For camping treks, we provide full board with our experienced cook. Vegetarian and special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our treks and tours. Your policy must cover medical expenses, emergency helicopter evacuation, trip cancellation, and high-altitude activities up to 6000m. We can recommend suitable insurance providers upon request.

Internet and phone connectivity is available in most popular trekking areas, though it becomes less reliable at higher altitudes. WiFi is available at tea houses for a small fee. We recommend informing family about potential communication gaps during remote sections of treks.

The local currency is Nepali Rupees (NPR). US Dollars are widely accepted and can be exchanged in Kathmandu. ATMs are available in major cities but not in remote trekking areas. We recommend carrying enough cash for personal expenses during treks.

Solo trekking is possible in popular areas, but we highly recommend going with a guide for safety and cultural insights. We offer both group treks and private/customized treks. Solo travelers can join scheduled group departures or arrange private treks with guides and porters.

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is Nepal's main gateway. Most international flights connect through Delhi, Dubai, Doha, or Bangkok. We can arrange airport transfers and help with visa-on-arrival procedures. Tourist visas are available for most nationalities upon arrival.
